First Mothers’ Day Without Mom

This will be the first Mothers’ Day with Mom in heaven. I am glad she is no longer suffering, but I miss her terribly.

Here is a poem that I composed and posted a while back:

When My Mother Goes

When my mother goes

I will rest in knowing

That we said everything

We needed to say.

Her life has given me courage

To be who I am.

And I will never forget her training.

I may have pushed against it at times,

But I know that she loved me,

Even when I did not understand.

I am thankful for the time

We have had to share these last days.

Part of me wants to cling to her,

But I know that she must go

And I pledge to be the loving daughter,

And honor her life with all that I am

And with all the love that I can,

Until it is my time to go.
